BENEVOLENT SORCERER

There are no syllables to utter his name
At once appearing in cacti frond
Fond for a moment
Before retreating to the interior once more
Sometimes more real to stay there
Than to gad about in the whims of company
There are no syllables to utter his name
Never there long enough for familiarity to sink in
Leaping from place to place
Deliveryman of spells to tribe scattered asunder
His mischief the medicine
Spells dribbling with wit
Heart open, he sees that nothing’s the matter
Knots tied hopelessly, chaotic, he’ll undo without clatter
And then vanish again, make you wonder what’s real
And this is his mission, his end of the deal
For be sure he’ll uncover all you’d rather not mention
A whirl-winding eddy - there’s bound to be tension
And all with the laughter of an innocent child
Deliveryman of spells to tribe scattered asunder
His mischief the medicine
No spells can deceive him
For this is a master dissolved into matter
Into matter
I  n  t  o    m  a  t  t  e  r
I     n         t           o
M        a         t       t          e        r
There are no syllables to utter his name
